We've got lots of new babies on the ranch these days, so we thought we'd celebrate Mother's Day with a few pics! Here's a proud mama with her new calf that was born on May 3rd, our sheep getting some special attention, and our little lambs having some fun!

New year, new grazing projects!

1/5/2015

Happy New Year from Valley View Ranch!

We are looking forward to some new projects this year, such as a grazing project our daughter is hoping to manage at our ranch!

Rod, Jenna and I attended the Western Canadian Grazing Conference in Edmonton on Dec 9-11. The conference discussed leading edge grazing and forage techniques and theories for producers, with featured speakers from across Canada and the United States. We
came home with some new ideas on sheep grazing that Jenna is hoping to apply. This fall we may have some grass pastured lamb available!

We are still trying to source the right sheep, but we will keep you posted as to when the project is underway and when orders can be placed for Jenna's grass pastured lamb.

We've got naturally raised broiler chickens ready to order!

We got our chicks earlier this year and raised them as a fun summer project. These broiler chickens were raised on alfalfa, grass, non-medicated grower ration, and home grown wheat & barley chop. We also supplemented their drinking water with apple cider vinegar.

We pastured them in large movable pens to keep them protected while still enjoying sunshine, fresh grass and open space every day.

They were processed at a government inspected facility. Finished weights range from 5 - 8 lbs and we're selling them at $ 5.00 /lb.

Delicious flavour and LOTS of meat on these roasting size chickens.

Get in touch with us to put in your order!

A visit to the ranch

8/16/2014

My niece and nephew visited our ranch this weekend and had a fun time as usual.

The garden was raided, the egg-laying hens were tended, the horses got some handfuls of feed, and a new little friend was found. Aaaawwww!
