Our heart and our home.

As a youthful, innovative family backed by three generations of ranching tradition, the wide Alberta prairie is our heart and our home.
Our family ranch - Valley View Ranch - is located just 30 minutes east of Calgary on the #1 highway near the town of Strathmore, Alberta.
Our “Flying Heart” brand is a heritage brand from Rod's family in Alberta dating back to the early 1900’s. It represents pride in our past, and care for our animals, our environment and our future - and its serves as the perfect brand category for our naturally raised beef and other products.
We invite you to see photos and read more about our family's proud history.
This land is our home and our livelihood.
We raise our cattle the old-fashioned way. We have a deep respect for our animals, and for the impact we have on our environment.
From preserving our native prairie pastures, to caring for the wildlife that share our home - these are priorites alongside the respectful and humane treatment of our cattle.
We are proud to be members of:
• Environmental Farm Plan Program
• Foothills Forage Association
• Verified Beef Production Program
• Prairie Wise Certified Ranch Program
We are also partners with:
• Ducks Unlimited Canada
• Pheasants Forever
• Crowfoot Creek Watershed

We are committed to life-long learning and growth.
In September 2010, we were proud to host Dylan Biggs at our ranch to present his low-stress cattle handling course. Our family had previously attended this 2-day course in 2009 and 2010, and we apply the techniques when working our herd.
